A Little Remodeling

Well folks we've been doing some remodeling in our house. One because it so desperately needed it...and two because we hope to sell sometime in the near future if the housing market ever goes up. Casey will be graduating in May so we plan to move wherever he gets a job. We put down hardwood floors....ahem...several months ago and after a little procrastinating were able to put down the trim. Casey's dad, Larry, came over for a week to help Casey with the monstrous project. Initially, they were just going to put the trim down and we would paint later. I had 3 overtime days coming up and only had 2 days off in between work. I couldn't be too much help. Come to find out...we have No babies at Northside. Our census is down into the 70's. I know...it sounds like a lot of babies to have in the ICU but we're usually in the 90's to 100's. They've been calling people off like crazy, so it worked out well for us. So I ended up having 6 days off! The men decided it would be easier to paint the house BEFORE the trim....make it easier on us later. So...after a brief discussion and quick decision I picked 2 paint colors and headed off to Lowe's. We pretty much painted the entire house...minus the 3 bedrooms. We spent 4 days painting. The majority of the walls were a gold almost khaki color and the kitchen is a celery green. It's amazing how a little paint can make a room pop and look entirely new and fresh. Larry wanted so badly to see the finished product, so he kept extending his time with us. It was great to have him around for a week....we worked hard....played a little....and enjoyed good times with him. However...we sent him home with numb fingers and sore knees and muscles. What a way to start his first week of retirement. Larry....thank you so much for all your hard work and energy. We appreciate it so much! Enjoy the pictures of our new abode!

It's a little hard to see the gold color in this picture, but this is our foyer. It's more yellow than tan, but the colors look different depending on the time of day.

Because our walls are weird, we had to paint the wall behind the couch green because it follows into the kitchen.

This was Casey's idea to put white trim around our slate fireplace. Snazzy!

The house looks amazing! Great work. The house across the street is still for sale if Casey gets a job around here :)

Larry and I looked at the great finished product pictures over and over. He just kept saying how much fun it was being a part of your project. I love the colors! Now your house is ready for a spread in Better Homes and Gardens.

Hey, Kelly... These pictures look awesome! You house look really clean and bright. But... where is that funny picture of Casey with the big paint roller and me with the tiny one? I thought that was so funny... I want to see that one!!! I told Linda that I had so much fun just hanging out with Casey and yo that I would go right back again... when my fingers and knees returned feeling! Love you both, Larry

Don't know what it looked like before, but it's quite pretty, light, and airy. Somebody, FOR SURE, will be in the market for that.
